Adventurous, kind and free-spirited – Anthony was eager to make his mark on the world. He lived every day with compassion and never hesitated to extend a helping hand to those around him. To honor Anthony’s legacy, the Anthony V. Mannino Fund was created as a way to support young adults battling cancer at Kaleida Health through the Kaleida Health Foundation.

Our Mission

The mission of the Anthony V. Mannino Fund is to help provide comfort to oncology patients experiencing the same journey Anthony endured years ago. Donations to the fund will help provide unique experiences for patients outside the hospital room, provide care packages and create a warm and comfortable environment for patients undergoing treatment.

Anthony's Room at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital

The Anthony V. Mannino Fund supports the ongoing maintenance and evolution of Anthony’s Room and at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital (MFSH). Anthony’s Room at MFSH provides a calming atmosphere for both the patient and family during their stay. The room has been outfitted with a television, games, and special furniture to accommodate the patient and a family member for overnight visits.

Anthony's Story Anthony V. Mannino

At 19 years old, Anthony had a zest for life and the world at this finger-tips. He was always on the go – whether it was running or climbing, Anthony did everything with a smile on his face. He was passionate about Tae Kwon Do, practicing constantly and eventually earned his two Black Belts and became an instructor.

Three months before his 20th birthday, Anthony received the devastating news that he was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer, and he courageously fought this disease for 22 months. In March 2009, Anthony lost his battle to cancer.

During this battle, Anthony fought with bravery, dignity and compassion. Anthony would often comfort and encourage others, of any age, in and out of his treatment centers while undergoing his own treatment. With Anthony’s compassion, caring and hope we carry on his fight by helping other young adults battling cancer.
