The Junior Board of Buffalo General Hospital
Although the ladies groups at the adult hospitals of Kaleida Health have different names they are united in their dedication to making life better for patients and residents at their respective facilities. Since 1935 The Junior Board of Buffalo General Hospital has raised more than $4.5 million dollars! From volunteering many hours in the gift shop and Surgical Waiting Room, providing tray favors to all BGH inpatients at Christmas dinner, to scheduling vendor sales, decorating the lobby for the holidays to awarding 13 grants to different departments and nursing scholarships, these ladies are busy.
Deaconess Center Women's Board
The Women’s Board at Deaconess Center sponsor special Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners so residents can enjoy the holidays with family with out cost. The Board has sponsored sales, knitted lap robes for residents and provided funding for facility improvements to enhance the comfort of residents. For many years the Board has been the Corporate Super Sponsor of the Toys for Tots Golf Tournament.
DeGraff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
The DeGraff Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1946 by wives of DeGraff physicians to lend financial support and volunteer assistance. In 2009 the Auxiliary gave $25,000.00 to the hospital to purchase patient wheelchairs and upgrade the physicians lounge and awarded three $1,000.00 scholarships to two students & one adult pursuing a career in the medical field. The Auxiliary hosted many fund raising events – Night of a Thousand Divas, dinners, vendor and gift shop sales and had five member luncheons with interesting speakers.
Women’s Board at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital
Members of the Women’s Board at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital continue to lend their hand of help through their $250,000 pledge for the upgrade of the Mother Baby Unit. The Gift Shop is completely volunteer-managed and all proceeds go directly to the Hospital. In addition, the group hosts two exciting events each year – the Annual Golf Tournament Summer Spectacular set for July 26th at Lockport Town & Country Club and the Fall Fashion Show, back by popular demand and scheduled for Salvatore’s Italian Gardens on October 16th.
