The presentation of the Spirit Award was a highlight of the evening. Recognized for their significant and spirited support of Kaleida Health and for their dedication to improve the health of the Western New York community were Dr. Kevin J. Gibbons and Dr. Michael G. Caty.

Dr. Gibbons is the Director of Neurocritical care for Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital and Kaleida Health.  He also serves as the Vice Chairman, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and the Residency Program Director for the University at Buffalo School of Medicine.  He made international headlines in 2007 with his former patient, Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett.

Dr. Caty is the Surgeon in Chief at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  He is also professor of surgery and pediatrics at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  One of the most recognizable faces at the hospital, he is known by his peers as intelligent, sincere and thoughtful.  It is often said around the hospital that Dr. Caty “treats every patient as if he or she were his own child.”

Proceeds from the Kaleida Ball benefit Kaleida Health and our family of healthcare organizations: Buffalo General, DeGraff Memorial, Millard Fillmore Gates, Millard Fillmore Suburban, and Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
